New York Fashion Week has always been about high-end designs, exclusive fetes and largely inaccessible (and often un-wearable) looks. Until now, that is: hessnatur, a global pioneer in organic apparel, recently launched the sale of designer Miguel Adrover’s “World in Your Hand” organic tee at Whole Foods to kick off Fashion Week in the Big Apple.

Acclaimed designer Adrover has long used fashion as a platform for social responsibility. The message here is twofold: switching to an organic tee helps eliminate billions of pounds of waste from pesticides and fertilizers created by the t-shirt industry, and purchasing this tee also supports micro-lending efforts to eradicate poverty in places like Bangladesh.

All this, for a cool $20 a tee. Talk about fashion forward.
